My name is Ira McCauley and I am thefounder of MOmarsh,The history of MOmarsh actually started in 1995 in Higginsville,Missouri. I began building small boats with Ben Gallup, the local University extension agent. During those early years we learned a lot about fiber glassing- most of it the hard way. In 1998,I built a new boat and named it the "Fatboy," MOmarsh was formed to market that boat. The goal was to have a large cockpit in a small but stable boat that had a built in transom which could handle a variety of motors. We have made some improvements over the years, but the design is largely the same.

Oh how things change. MOmarsh is truly a small business that grew from a hobby. Many friends and other avid waterfowlers have helped MOmarsh to mature over the years. I thank them all for their assistance and contribuitions. I continue to work on new products to meet the needs of today's waterfowler in an everchanging hunting environment and waterfowling market. We do have a new boat in the works for 2008! We are also streamlining the fabrication and production process in 2008.

This style of boat has been around the Midwest for a number of years. We are in the business of hiding hunters and making their hunting experience as pleasant as possible. The boats allow the hunter to get their gear into the marsh with a minimum of effort while enjoying the hunt while watching the ducks rather than sitting on a bucket and looking down into the water. My passion for duck hunting is the sole reason that MOmarsh exists.

I am also an avid decoy carver. I have carved since 1992 and really enjoy it. It is a way for me to unwind and there in a continuous learning curve which keeps things interesting. My carvings have come a long way since the first rig of bluebills that I carved in the early 90's. Jeff Churan was my initial mentor. Back then, there was not the wealth of information that there is today on the internet and the learning curve was much slower. Understanding the anatomy, finding the bird in a piece of wood, and making it come alive with paint are all challenges that I will never master. I do continue to learn things and get better with each one, however. I plan to make a decoy page for viewing and some sales in 2008.

Like most people in this business I have a real job. I am a veterinarian who owns two clinics with my brother. I am married to a very patient woman named Kellie. Many of you will deal with her in the ordering process, especially if it is during hunting season.. Luckily, she usually has more patience with customers than she does with me! We are blessed with two sons named Kory and Quinn, so if you hear crying or screaming in the background, it is likely one of them.

We truly are serious about "Layed-back hunting!"
